Nearly eight years ago, me and my wife, by chance, came to know of Sovereign Harbour.
We were on cruise when sitting next to my wife round the swimming pool, was this lady from Eastbourne chatting about how nice to be living in this part of the world.
On our return, we decided to drive down from London for the day and have a look ourselves.
On reaching the outskirts of Eastbourne, we noticed a sign which say Sovereign Harbour.
Out of curiosity we drove in that direction and arrived, then at ASDA Store to our right then we saw another sign which direct us to the North Harbour which is the beginning of Pacific Drive.
It was a great Building Sites everywhere with few buildings completed round the North Marina.
Where now is full up with estates next to the beach they was no buildings at all.
Then, we turned back and entered the Car Park of Sovereign Harbour proper where the North Bridge ( we have three ), devide the North Marina from the Central Marina.
We walked into Sovereign Harbour Waterfront - It has not changed since then and we had lunch at the Harbour Harvester, thinking what a nice place it was.
My wife misconception about Eastbourne was - This is a place for Oldies, a waiting transit for life ends.
Her thought couldn't be more to the point when we drove along Eastbourne Seafront and saw all those people in wheelchairs and crutches.
Then we stop by the railway station and had a look in the shop window of an estate agent who was about to lock up the front door. He asked us can I interested in anything. We told him about Sovereign Harbour. He told us that he received the same morning a New instruction to sell a just finished property which the client baught for his daughter attending local University but his daughter did not want to live in Sovereign Harbour.
The next Sunday, we made an arrangement to see the property and within one month - we completed the deal and moved in.
Since then - life was great.
We made New Friends and our fear that all our neighbours are old Old - was not true.
Younger and younger couples have moved into the harbour.
You see a lot of young mums rolling prams and buggies.
You see a lot of young boys and girls going to schools located outside the Harbour.
we do have the young retired professionals Ladies and Gents but you see nothing like the age group you see around in Eastbourne.
As a Seaside Resort, we do have a lot of property owners having Sovereign Harbour as a second home.
Time in the past, we saw a lot of rented accomodation allocated to Council Tenants - this braught with it, undesired crowd. However, and I am glad to testify, many of those properties are sold to owners occupiers and the crime rate went considerably down.
If you are looking for a place by the Sea, come and join our Community.
Welcome to Sovereign Harbour.
